Honesty without shame
We tell the truth kindly. Facing what’s hard is the first step toward something steadier, and shame is a poor teacher.

Our Story
We started from a simple belief: lasting recovery needs structure, community, and people who stay.
At a Glance
A New Awakening of The San Joaquin provides residential treatment for adults seeking alcohol and substance use disorder care. The residence sits above Millerton Lake, and admissions and outpatient support run from our Fresno office. On site: clinical care from licensed clinicians, individual and group sessions with in-house therapists, a structured daily program, and an aftercare plan for the weeks after. Admissions answers day or night at (559) 240-9206, and we check what your plan covers.

Where We Come From
You deserve care that feels close to home — not distant, clinical, or cold. We built a place where you can face substance use disorder and the challenges of recovery with dignity, daily guidance, and real connection.
Today we serve adults seeking alcohol and substance use disorder treatment with programs designed for steady progress — not overnight miracles. The Valley’s realities matter here: work schedules, family obligations, insurance questions, and the quiet weight of trying again after previous attempts.
Our story isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating an environment where honesty is safer than performance, and where structure exists to hold people through the uneven middle of recovery — not just the dramatic beginning.
What Guides Us
Values only matter if they show up in ordinary hours — how staff greet someone on a hard morning, how we talk about setbacks, and how we keep families informed without stripping privacy.

We tell the truth kindly. Facing what’s hard is the first step toward something steadier, and shame is a poor teacher.

Some days will feel lighter than others. We help you keep going through both — without pretending recovery is a straight line.

Healing sticks when you’re not carrying it alone. Connection is part of the plan, not an optional extra.
How the team works
Care here is delivered by three groups of people, and you’ll deal with all of them. Admissions answer the phone at any hour and handle benefits and intake. Clinicians run individual and group sessions and carry your plan. Operations keep the schedule, the property and the day-to-day running, so the clinical work can happen.
This page lists roles rather than people. We would rather leave it honest than fill it with faces and names you would not actually meet.

How that shows up
From admissions through daily programming, we try to keep the experience clear and humane. That means explaining what to expect, verifying insurance in plain language, and building treatment days around structure you can feel — therapy, skills, community, rest — not chaos or empty busywork.
It also means remembering that the person in front of us has a life outside these walls: family, work history, grief, humor, and hope that may feel fragile. We coordinate clinical care with in-house therapists, support families when involvement helps, and treat previous treatment attempts as information rather than failure.
From there, you will never be left guessing what comes next. We will walk you through your options, help you understand coverage and scheduling, and build a plan around practical tools and goals that hold up in real life.
If you’re considering care here, you’re welcome to explore our programs, take the tour, or simply call. Our story continues every time someone takes a first step they weren’t sure they could take — and every time a team stays present for the days after that step.
Whether you have questions or you’re ready to begin, our admissions team is here 24/7 — without judgment, and with real next steps.
